NC State Fair 2016 Information and Schedule of Activities


The Village will be open and ready for craftsmen to move-in beginning Tuesday at 8 am. Please pack your vehicle so that you will be able to quickly unload and then move your vehicle out of the building to make space for others to drive in.  YOU MUST PERSONALLY BE IN THE BUILDING NO LATER THAN 10 AM ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13TH TO CLAIM YOUR BOOTH SPACE.  See Anne Allison or Mike Calhoun when you arrive.  Any space that is unclaimed after the deadline will be assigned to others.

You may work on set up Tuesday and Wednesday until 6pm.  Please be considerate of our security teamed exit by that time.

PLEASE NOTE:  No large trailers in the building after Tuesday.  The craftsmen near the back entrance will be setting booths and all walls will be in place by that time.  If you are pulling a large trailer, you may bring it in on Monday afternoon with advance notice to unload for set up on Tuesday.

NO VEHICLES will be allowed in the building after noon on WEDNESDAY.  


The fair will open on Thursday at 3 pm, with buildings opening at 4 pm.  Please plan on joining your fellow craftsmen for our annual welcome lunch to be held at 12 noon on opening day.  A letter from our President, Dan Dye is included in this mailing with details about the meal.  Lunch reservation forms are due back to Dan by October 1 A Village business meeting will be held immediately following lunch from 1:00 to 1:30 pm.   All craftsmen are expected to attend.  Following the meeting, craftsmen may continue with set up.  Booths will be reviewed by the selection committee during a final walk-thru on Thursday before opening.

Copies of the operating guidelines were mailed out this summer and will also be available at load-in for your convenience.  Please review the guidelines and if you have any questions, please give me a call.   Please the clarifications regarding signage that were also provided in the earlier mailing.

Please note all items in your booth must represent your work.  Crafts made by others are not permitted.  Also raw materials may not be sold by craftsmen unless the materials are accompanied by an instruction sheet, original design or pattern representing the original work of the craftsmen and offered as a learn-to-make-it kit.

If you are planning to use video or some other form of visual presentation in your booth this year, please submit your plan (in writing...email is fine) by October 1st to include the following: 1) type of technology to be used (video, digital photo display, etc.), 2) process or activity to be featured in the presentation that cannot be demonstrated otherwise, and 3) explanation as to how this will support or add to your demonstration.  Please refer to the Operating Guidelines for limitations and details regarding the use of visual media.


With the exception of the special opening time on the first day, the Village will be open to the public from

10 am to when we begin closing at 9:45 pm each evening.

Our booth judges will be in the Village on the first Saturday morning to determine the recipients of the annual ribbons.  Ribbons will be awarded following the worship service the next morning.  Judging Criteria that will be shared with our judges will be posted on the bulletin board in the break room for review.

Worship services will be held in the Village each Sunday at 9:10 am.  All are welcome.


Two meetings will be held during the fair for the Village members with required attendance – 

Informational meeting on opening day at 1 pm

General meeting on the second Saturday at 9 am

When the building closes to the public on the final Sunday evening, craftsmen may work on breaking down booths until 11 pm.  Please be reminded that vehicles are not permitted on the fairgrounds for loading until midnight.  The Village will reopen at 7 am on Monday morning for move out.  There will be no official security in the building on Monday.  Be sure to get moved out as early as possible.


Camping is now handled through the Public Safety Office.  Camping space seems to be more limited each year, so don’t delay sending in your reservation.  Payment in advance is required and must accompany reservations.
